Self-Isolation: Week Fifteen
Another busy work at work, but I’ve spent the evenings of the past week playing through and completing The Last Of Us Part 2, which was fantastic - easily one of the best games I’ve ever played. I also made a lot of progress on a physical book project, which got sent to the printers over the weekend, and I’m really curious to see what comes back in the proofs. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a few printed up to send out to friends, similar to what I’ve been doing recently with my postcards around the world. I rarely make pieces that aren’t digital, but when I do, it’s always a fresh challenge and a lot of fun.
Outside of these 2 projects, I did a few small typographic pieces this week, mainly just experimenting with different approaches and playing with some of my pal Peter Bilak’s fonts at Typotheque. I don’t know if those experiments will go anywhere, but it was a lot of fun to try some new things.
Musically it’s been a week of mainly Britpop again, with lots of Blur, Pop Will Eat Itself and Sleeper, but also really enjoying an old compilation, ‘The Brit Box’ that Mary got me for Christmas a few years ago. I found a whole bunch of really cheap Marion CDs on eBay, the albums of which I’d only ever had on tape, so I’m looking to those arriving soon too. As with a lot of bands, it’s such a shame what happened to them - I remember going to see them on my own in Kentish Town in (I think) 1996, and them being amazing.
Oh, and for the first time in 4 months, I got a haircut. Quite an achievement these days.
