Self-Isolation: Week Ten
With the long Memorial Day weekend, the past week ended up being fairly productive, with lots of different experiments happening while sat on the couch with the laptop as we binge watched Waco, Bodyguard and The Assassination of Gianni Versace. This week I ended up thinking through a number of more abstract painterly ideas, but also experimented with a few animation thoughts that have been rattling around lately.
I also played through Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which started well, had an enormously tedious grind in the middle of it, but was fantastic at the end (another train chase, yay!). Some of the postcards I mailed out last week to friends also started to arrive around the world, which was a great feeling. I worked through some painterly ideas around breeding, the tropes of movie endings, as well as local transport information design, ASCII renders, and my ongoing experiments with trying to get circular pieces to work.
Ten weeks in and the fatigue is starting to feel very real, especially as many states begin to tentatively reopen, but I’ve been enjoying the mental space this kind of work affords me, and having a lot of fun doing it.
